The megaplan to save the Andean bear from extinction
In 2007 the International Union for Conservation of Nature raised the alarm: six of the eight species of bears existing in the world may disappear in the coming decades. The Andean bear (‘Tremarctos ornatus’), the only one that lives in South America, entered that year in the category of vulnerable (VU).
